Spline Introduction

What is Spline?

Spline is a collaborative 3D and 2D design platform for creating interactive content for websites, mobile apps, product presentations, games, and other digital experiences. Its browser-based editor combines modeling, materials, lighting, animation, events, and physics in a shared project file.

Teams can work directly in the same file, leave comments, undo changes, and move between manual editing and AI-assisted creation. Spline also supports agents connected through its Model Context Protocol tools. Compatible agents can inspect a scene, modify it, frame a view, and review the result. Agent-created elements remain editable as standard Spline objects.

Completed scenes can be shared by link, embedded in websites, exported for web development, or added to Apple and Android applications using platform-specific renderers.

Key Features

  • 3D creation tools: Build scenes with primitives, Boolean operations, sculpting, materials, lights, post-processing, and AI-based 3D generation.
  • Animation and interaction: Add states, keyframes, events, and physics to create responsive product viewers, website elements, games, and demonstrations.
  • AI agents and generation: Paid plans include credits for the AI agent plus 3D, texture, and image generation across the 3D and 2D editors.
  • Live collaboration: Designers, teammates, and connected agents can contribute to the same editable file, with commenting and undo support.
  • Multi-platform publishing: Publish web links, embed viewers, export code, create SwiftUI or Jetpack Compose views, and generate mobile app builds where supported by the plan.
  • Developer workflows: Spline supports web exports, React use, APIs, variables, webhooks, MCP tool calls, and self-hosted exports on eligible plans.

Use Cases

  • Create interactive 3D website heroes, product viewers, and branded marketing experiences.
  • Design animated prototypes and product concepts for collaborative review.
  • Build educational visualizations, industrial demonstrations, and gamified experiences.
  • Prepare interactive scenes for web, iOS, and Android applications.

Pricing

Spline uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs $0 per month and includes limited personal files, unlimited viewers, library access, limited daily MCP calls, and watermarked web exports. Annual billing lists Hobby at $12, Pro at $25, and Max at $60 per seat per month; monthly rates are $15, $30, and $70 respectively. Enterprise pricing is custom. Paid tiers add monthly AI credits and broader export, workspace, media, and collaboration features.

Who Is It For?

Spline is aimed at 3D and product designers, brand and marketing teams, web creators, developers, educators, and organizations that need collaborative interactive graphics without relying entirely on a traditional desktop 3D workflow.
