What is Hex?
Hex is a web-based analytics platform for data exploration, business intelligence, and collaborative reporting. It brings agentic notebooks, conversational analysis, semantic models, dashboards, and data apps into one system. Technical users can perform detailed analysis, while other team members can ask questions in plain language or interact with published reports.
Hex is designed to ground AI-generated answers in an organization’s data context. Its governance tools help teams define shared models, inspect context gaps, and manage how data is interpreted. Projects can move from an initial question to deeper analysis and then to a shareable app without switching products.
Key Features
- Agentic notebooks: Users can investigate data in notebooks with support from an AI agent, multiple cell types, connected data sources, and configurable compute.
- Conversational analytics: Team members can ask questions in plain language, review generated answers and charts, and continue exploring with follow-up questions.
- Context Studio: Semantic models, evaluations, context monitoring, and governance controls help organizations provide consistent definitions for AI-assisted analysis.
- Data apps and dashboards: Analysts can turn projects into interactive reports, dashboards, and apps for internal teams or customer-facing embedded experiences.
- Collaboration and automation: Depending on the plan, Hex supports shared collections and components, version history, scheduled runs, alerts, permissions, and published apps.
- CLI and integrations: Hex provides terminal-based controls, data-source connections, APIs, and integrations for accessing analytics through existing workflows.
